Hello everyone! It’s a beautiful day! Please welcome this month’s author, Ysa Arcangel!
Elle: If you could be any fantastical being, which would you choose, and why?
Ysa: Mermaids! Who doesn’t want to be a mermaid? With all those shiny scales that dazzles in the light and a fish best friend!
E: What does your typical writing day/schedule look like?
Y: I’m a mother of three and a wife of very grumpy hubby who hates to see me up until the wee hours writing like crazy. At work during down time, I write. On the train, on my way to work, I write on my phone. I writer wherever I can. I don’t have a daily word count goal but I see to it to write at least 1k whenever I can.
E: Is there anything you simply must have in order to write?
Y: I write everywhere I can. For as long as I have my phone with me, the words will continue to flow.
E: What is your strangest habit?
Y: I drink coffee before I go to sleep. For coffee lover like me, I think it’s no longer strange. I am so addicted that I think it already lost its effect on me. I feel more relaxed and I sleep better.
E: Are you a Planner or a Pantser?
Y: Plotting my story takes a lot of days dreaming. I outline the main story, the beginning, middle and end in my head then pants all the way through. I consider myself half-blood pantser. I need a plan, a general idea of where the story is going and how it’s going to get there then I write as I go.
E: What’s your favorite book>to>movie adaptation?
Y: Dear John. The movie gave it a HFN ending compare to it’s tragic book ending.
E: Best advice for aspiring writers?
Y: Build your author platform and fan base before you take advantage of the publishing path and tools available to you. Publish more books. The more you influence your readers, the more you become an author in its real sense. Write as much as you can. Establish your goal and when you get published, publish more. Especially, do not give up on what makes you happy. If you think you’re no longer happy with what you’re doing, walk away and do other things. It’s not worth your time and unfair to those people who are willing to support your craft.
E: What are your favorite themes to write about?
Y: Romance and fantasy.
E: It’s the zombie apocalypse! You may choose 3 fictional characters to be on your team. Who are they?
Y: Hermione, Harry and Ron. Nuff said.
E: In my series, The Essential Elements, the characters have the ability to control 1 of the 4 Classical Elements (Earth, Fire, Water, and Wind). If you could control one, which would you choose, and why?
Y: I’d choose water. It can bypass all earth defense. It can kill someone from draining their blood. Water goes freeze, expand and repeat the process but probably for more practical reasons. Free hand stirring my coffee or pasta from a distance, staying dry from rain and snow ^_^. Those kind of things.
E: In just ONE sentence, please tell us about your latest release!
Y: A story about a heart that never forgets and the disease which has the power to rob, damage, and yet cannot vanquish the feeling of loved and being loved.
Thank you, Ysa!
