Hey guys! Its time for another author spotlight! This month’s is Samantha MacLeod!

Samantha MacLeodElle: If you could be any fantastical being, which would you choose, and why?

Samantha: Unicorn. Rainbows, sprinkles, and the ability to stab people with my head.

E: lol! What does your typical writing day/schedule look like?

S: Like a lot of other writerly types, I work several jobs. I’ve also got two small kids, so my writing schedule is, “Write like crazy whenever I get ten minutes of peace and quiet!” I dream of the day when I’ll have an official writing schedule!

E: Is there anything you simply must have in order to write?

S: As much as I’d love to say I can only create writing magic when I have a cheese platter, sparkling water, and little Ella Fitzgerald in the background, I pretty much cram my writing into any spare time I can scrape together. The only thing I must have is my laptop. Or some scrap paper and a pen (I’ve been known to write dialogue at red lights).

E: What is your strangest habit?

S: Writing dialogue at red lights.

E: Are you a Planner or a Pantser?

S: I’m a total pantser! I’m just making this all up as I go along…

E: What’s your favorite book>to>movie adaptation?

S: Oh, great question! Even though I thought the Hobbit trilogy was an abomination, I’ve got to go with Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies, partially because they made it socially acceptable to be a total fantasy nerd, and partially because Aragorn. *sigh*

E: LOTR is definitely a great choice! Best advice for aspiring writers?

S: Write the book you want to read, and just keep swimming!

E: What are your favorite themes to write about?

S: I write a lot about sex and romance, because I like to examine the things that push people to defy their own rationality. I love the way a romantic relationship can expose our deepest and most vulnerable selves, and I also love exploring that very intimate, very real human experience against the backdrop of fantasy and mythology.

E: It’s the zombie apocalypse! You may choose 3 fictional characters to be on your team. Who are they?

S: Aragorn, Marvel’s Loki, and Captain Malcolm Reynolds. We may not make it out alive, but I’d die happy!

E: In my series, The Essential Elements, the characters have the ability to control 1 of the 4 Classical Elements (Earth, Fire, Water, and Wind). If you could control one, which would you choose, and why?

S: I’m going to assume controlling the wind would allow me to fly, so wind!

DeathandBeautyCover-ebookE: People keep assuming Winds can fly, but so far I’ve managed to keep flying out of it lol In just ONE sentence, please tell us about your latest release!

S: Returning to his former life depends on Baldr the Beautiful seducing the most formidable woman in the Nine Realms.

Thank you, Samantha!
