Hello again my lovely readers! Welcome to another Author Spotlight!

This month’s author is Shannyn Leah!

shannyn - bw - enhancedElle: If you could be any fantastical being, which would you choose, and why?

Shannyn: I’d be a unicorn because what is their magical power? Everyone has a theory, but we aren’t quite sure. Plus, they’re beautiful and everyone loves them.

Elle: Oh cool! I don’t think anyone has chosen a unicorn before! What does your typical writing day/schedule look like?

S: I work seven days a week in my family business. During the day I write first drafts of books on my iphone. All my first drafts are done on my iphone and usually while working, driving around (passenger, of course) and while out and about. My writing is usually after nine in the evening and I stay up into the early hours of the morning editing all the work I’ve done during the day.

Elle: Is there anything you simply must have in order to write?

S: Food. I must be full to write. If my stomach is even the least bit hungry, I cannot concentrate.

Elle: Dude… I totally understand the need for snacking lol What is your strangest habit?

S: I always have my feet up. Sitting at kitchen table, legs curled under me. Sitting on couch, legs folded or in front of me. Anywhere and everywhere I sit, I put my legs up.

Elle: Are you a Planner or a Pantser?

S: I’m a Pantser 100%! I usually start with a situation and once I get a feel for my characters, random scenes will begin playing through my head. I jot these ideas down on my phone and usually even when I think I’m planning an idea, my characters always manage to change it up!

Elle: What’s your favorite book>to>movie adaptation?

S: My favorite of all time is the 1985 Alice in Wonderland with Carol Channing and John Stamos…yes John Stamos is in it and if you haven’t seen it go watch it because it’s crazy entertaining.

Elle: I’ll have to check it out sometime! Best advice for aspiring writers?

S: Keep writing.

Elle: What are your favorite themes to write about?

S: So far I’ve written mostly small town contemporary romance with an edge of mystery and and little secrets hiding and popping up during the story. Last year I wrote Winters Rising, a time travel romance, and I love absolutely fell in love with the Lexcon world I built and the slow unveiling mystery of time rips, elders and unborns. I am hoping to release the next two books in this series in 2018.

Elle: Very exciting! It’s the zombie apocalypse! You may choose 3 fictional characters to be on your team. Who are they?

S: I would choose Jax, Declan and Gabby from my Winters Rising series because they can open time rips together and travel anywhere there is a door. Escaping the attack of Zombies would be helpful with time traveling doors. Also, Jax is one super alpha male would would protect the entire crew.

Elle: In my series, The Essential Elements, the characters have the ability to control 1 of the 4 Classical Elements (Earth, Fire, Water, and Wind). If you could control one, which would you choose, and why?

S: I would choose earth. There are so many aspects of earth you could you to your advantage.

WintersRising_AmazonElle: In just ONE sentence, please tell us about your latest release!

S: It’s hard to resist a “Bad Boy” who’s a “Good Man”.
